Examples of Ricci limit spaces with non-integer Hausdorff dimension

چکیده
We give the first examples of collapsing Ricci limit spaces on which Hausdorff dimension singular set exceeds that regular set; moreover, these can be non-integers. This answers a question Cheeger-Colding about spaces.

Axiomatic basis for spaces with non integer dimension
Five structural axioms are proposed which generate a space 5 D with "dimension" D that is not restricted to the positive integers. Four of the axioms are topological; the fifth specifies an integration measure. When D is a positive integer, 5D behaves like a conventional Euclidean vector space, but nonvector character otherwise occurs. These 5 D conform to informal usage of continuously variabl...
متن کاملExamples of Feigenbaum Julia Sets with Small Hausdorff Dimension
We give examples of infinitely renormalizable quadratic polynomials Fc : z 7→ z + c with stationary combinatorics whose Julia sets have Hausdorff dimension arbitrary close to 1. The combinatorics of the renormalization involved is close to the Chebyshev one. The argument is based upon a new tool, a “Recursive Quadratic Estimate” for the Poincaré series of an infinitely renormalizable map. Stony...
متن کاملHausdorff Dimension and Hausdorff Measure for Non-integer based Cantor-type Sets
We consider digits-deleted sets or Cantor-type sets with β-expansions. We calculate the Hausdorff dimension d of these sets and show that d is continuous with respect to β. The d-dimentional Hausdorff measure of these sets is finite and positive.
متن کاملHausdorff Dimension of Limit Sets for Parabolic Ifs with Overlaps
We study parabolic iterated function systems with overlaps on the real line. We show that if a d-parameter family of such systems satisfies a transversality condition, then for almost every parameter value the Hausdorff dimension of the limit set is the minimum of 1 and the least zero of the pressure function. Moreover, the local dimension of the exceptional set of parameters is estimated. If t...
متن کاملFunction spaces and Hausdorff dimension on fractals
We start by surveying a possible approach for function spaces of Besov type on special closed subsets of Rn. Afterwards we recall that, in the case of Sobolev spaces and Besov spaces on Rn, the Hausdorff dimension for the graphs of continuous functions belonging to such spaces has been studied by several authors, and that in the case of Besov spaces the final answer concerning the maximal possi...
